What Are Rounds of Edits?

A round of edits is simply your collection of changes, additions and subtractions to the website design, content and the overall project. You will need to organize each round properly for quick processing and submit your edits to us at one time.
**A round of edits usually includes comments, instructions, images and content placed directly in Invision and/or Markup, in a text document, or in a single email message in task (or instructional) format, usually with bulletpoints. Edits you submit at different times may constitute another round of edits and could incur further charges.
Throughout the process of building your website, we will be expecting three (3) FREE rounds of edits from you and your company team. These are vital steps in your wireframe layout, as well as in Stage 3, Stage 4 and Stage 6 that must be done correctly to ensure quick processing and completion of your website project.
Not to worry, we will accept additional rounds of edits beyond our scheduled 3 rounds of edits for an additional $100 each.

DO NOT INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING IN YOUR EDITS:
  • Questions
  • Ideas
  • Opinions
  • Do not reference other documents or emails, simply be clear with your task
  • Choices or decisions for us to make

These types of things can be submitted in a separate email to our Support Department. We prefer email over text messages or phone calls / voicemails to ensure proper documentation for future reference.

How To Submit A Round Of Edits (options):

  1. Check the link in your email to the design in Invision or Markup, switch to comment mode, and click where you’d like to make a change or add text and images, and clearly state your instructions.
  2. If you try this, and you are not comfortable with it, the backup option is to submit edits to us in a MS Word document or Google Drive document.
  3. Option 3 is to just start a fresh email addressed to our support department with an appropriate subject title, like “Round 1 Edits.”

Begin adding tasks for us to complete. Please reference the appropriate section of the website (Page) or design when requesting edits. Here are some examples:

  • Please change the blue background in the About Us section on Home page to red.
  • Use the image with the file name “abcd1234.jpg” in the Services section.
  • Move the logo (in header /In footer) to the left side of the website instead of the right side.

Some examples of content / text edits to the website:

  • Example 1 – Use this text on the main Services Page:

Our Professional Services
When it comes to professional services, our company provides the best services backed with years of experience. We’re different from the other companies that provide these services because we use all natural ingredients sourced from organic farms across the country.
Service 1
This service we provide to small businesses who are in need of the most modern services like this one that we offer. There is no better place to get this service.

  • Example 2 – In the middle section of the About Us page, use this text instead:

Our company boasts 15 years of service in the City area with an unblemished record or excellence in the services we provide. We started in 1972 in our garage and quickly built the best products to fill the needs of our customers.

IMAGES & VIDEOS

In your website designs in Invision or Markup, you can paste a link to your video or image in the comment where you would like us to put that image. This can also be a link to a Facebook post or another place where your image or video is located online in a DOWNLOADABLE format. Keep in mind we cannot download content from some websites like YouTube, so we will need the original files in these situations.
You can drop files directly into Invision. Or, if you prefer, you can share, or send us access to any cloud storage or sharing accounts such as Dropbox or Google Drive. You will need to reference the file name of the video or image and tell us where to put that image on your website when you submit your edit round.
In all stages, please drop images/videos in Invision, Markup, Google Drive, Dropbox etc and assign the link or file name in Markup, or your edit documents. We need a way to reference which image/video file goes where. Again, here is an example:
“Please use image file “abcd1234.jpg” on the Service Page, third section.”
OR
“Please use {IMAGE LINK} on the Service Page, third section.”

ROUNDS OF EDITS INCLUDED IN YOUR PROJECT

Wireframe Edits

In stage 2 of the website process, you can view the project brief video in Invision, as well as review and edit your website wireframe (LEARN ALL ABOUT WIREFRAMES HERE). A wireframe is a “skeleton” layout of how the website will flow. This is NOT A DESIGN. You can make simple edits, suggestions or notes directly in the wireframe if you so choose.
The purpose of the wireframe is to layout the placement of elements of the main pages of the website. We will not be assigning images or videos at this point, although some text may be relevant. This is not the stage to submit text or image edits, although we are open to suggestions.
We need you to sign off on the wireframe that you are ok with the placement of sections and elements in those sections. If not, please make notes in the wireframe or reply to the WIREFRAME email you received.

Round 1 Edits

In the middle of Stage 3 of the website process, we will notify you to review your shiny new website design in Invision. We start by designing the home page first, which you must approve before we proceed to design the remaining pages of the website.
We are looking for you to review and make edits (if needed) to the colors used in the site, the font style (the way the words and text looks), and the overall style of the design. If you don’t like something aesthetic, or the visual appearance, you can ask us to change it to your liking.
In the home page design, you’ll likely notice fake, or “stock images” as placeholders, and dummy text on the site that says “Lorem ipsum dolor…” This is just normal placeholder text to show you where images will be placed, where text will be placed, and the font style of that text.
We don’t necessarily need all your text, images and videos in this step as we will submit all that later. However, please feel free to get a head start on that here in this stage if you so choose. Please refer to the proper way to submit all your instructions and edits for the overall design aspect of your new home page.
Please try to submit your first round of edits within 3 days

Round 2 Edits / Final Design Edits

After you’ve approved your website design home page, we will design and send the designs for the remaining pages (inner pages) to match what you saw in the wireframe. This is the start of Stage 4, which is basically the stage where we gather your edits and most of the text and content for the website.
You will notice perhaps that every single page of the website is not included here. This is normal, as we will use these designs as templates for the remaining pages of the website and you will be able to edit every single page in the next stage.
On the pages that we’ve designed, you can feel free to send us your text (words) for the website in a MS Word document or Google Doc, or directly in an email as instructed above.
The same rules apply here for submitting edits and instructions to us. You can now send us instructions for text, images and videos…or you can wait until the next stage.
Please try to submit your second round of edits within 5 days

Round 3 Edits / Final Client Edits

Once the pages of your website are built, we will present it to you, either on a temporary website address, or on your new domain address. This is Stage 6, almost there!
We will often use a program called Markup to make the final round of edits pertaining to elements on the website as well as style and design adjustments. It’s similar to making edits in Invision.

Text Copy For The Website

  1. If you’ve paid for us to write all the text copy for the website we will send it to you for approval as well.
  2. If you DID NOT pay for this service, you will need to carefully submit all the text for the website.
  3. If you already have a website, and just want to use the existing text copy from your website, we will simply paste that in the new site for you. Keep in mind that you may still want to review, revise and/or add to that existing content.

Please try to submit your third and final round of edits within 5 days

Once your edit instructions are submitted, we will make all changes and enter into the final launch stage of your website….almost there!
We also offer a concierge service to set up all your edits if this work is too time consuming or complex. The cost is $150 per hour for a professional to chat with you about setting up all your edits. This does not include writing content, furnishing images or any content.
